For those in the Southern California area, “At Knife’s Edge” will be exhibited on Saturday August 7, featuring Carter Dewberry performing her original score live alongside the film, at the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana. The event is conjoined with the closing of the ‘100 Artists See Satan’ exhibit there, and coincides with the monthly Art Walk event held throughout the area. Saturday, March 13th brought a large crowd to the vintage ambience of the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California, marking the first live musical performance accompanying “At Knife’s Edge”!  The dark tale was told through the style of silent cinema, with an evocative new musical score.  Filmmaker Michael Melzer and much of the production’s cast and crew were on hand, celebrating the final incarnation of the nearly four-year project.  The private event featured the film’s original score composer Carter Dewberry leading the way on cello, with Robert Harsh on percussion and Eric Stoner on guitar, alongside the projected film.  Watch this blog for the latest news on upcoming “At Knife’s Edge” events, with film festivals and live performances planned for the coming year…

After so much work, the silent film production of “At Knife’s Edge” is fast nearing completion. The trip through a sinister and tragic story will now be seen through the lens of cinema in its earliest form! The stage is set for a dynamic marriage of image and music–and March 13th will mark a final milestone: a private performance of the project at The Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California…

Saturday saw the CD release/concert of Carter Dewberry’s first album “Origins”, at the Yost Theater in downtown Santa Ana.  The performance was amazing, and included visual samples of “At Knife’s Edge”, projected behind the musicians, in several songs.  The event also featured the premiere performance of music composed for the film. Turnout was high and the musical selections were varied, even incorporating a didgeridoo in one selection!  A glowing review (with more pictures) can be found at OC Music Magazine here.
